Welcome!

This website introduces a new computer-key system that allows users to type over four words a second and edit text easily, even on pocket-sized devices. As a result, we will have so much more time to do what we really want to do!

The name Express refers to “rapidly done” but also “expressive and creative.” These new keys are a superior writing tools that enable a kind of writing only imagined until now, a way of typing and editing that can capture an unbroken stream of ideas.

The inventor’s hope is that both the invention and the proceeds from it will be used to promote creativity and artistry in a world that has neglected their essential role.

An Introductory Video

Click on the link below to watch a video that introduces the Express Keys. The first ten minutes give an overview of the invention, and the final seventeen minutes go into much more detail.

The Pages on this Site

A quick look at the pages on this site:

Overview    This section of the website offers a brief overview of the invention.

Benefits    This explains the advantages of the Express Keys over current key systems, particularly the archaic QWERTY keyboard.

The Keys     This page describes the physical attributes of the Express Keys—the Finger Keys and the Thumb Keys.

The Rows     This describes the organization of the computing experience into various “Rows.” These are the Word Row, Number Row, Correct Row, Style Row, Move-View Row, and Manage Row. In a section called Other Rows, I outline other possible Rows that could become available to users.

Word Row   This explains how to write letters, words, punctuation marks, diacritical marks, and miscellaneous symbols. This also explains how Speed Typing works.

Number Row   This explains how to type numbers, number symbols, and perform calculations on the Express Keys.

Correct Row  This explains the editing capabilities of the Express Keys for the beginning  typist and also for the experienced writer.

Style Row   This describes how to style and format text on the Express Keys, and perform related operations.

Manage Row  This explains how the computing experience is managed, and how various typing operations are personalized and streamlined.

Move-View Row   This explains how the Express Keys perform the functions of a mouse on portable devices, and how the view of the screen and contents can be changed.

Other Rows    This outlines a number of other possible Rows that could be programmed into the Express Keys.

Embodiments     This suggests various embodiments for the Express Keys on handheld devices, laptop-sized computers, and desktop-sized keyboards.

Typing Course    This introduces a typing course that would teach students in a semester course how to Speed Type the 1025 most frequently used words.

How to Help    I created this website in the hopes of generating interest in this invention and making it a reality.

At the present time, the next step is to build a prototype that can demonstrate how typing at the speed of speech on a pocket-sized device is possible.

I welcome advice, ideas, or support in any form. To become a reality, a project of this scope will require many people working together.
